Questions & Answers
How much commission does Uber Eats take, and how does that compare to RestApp? +
On the Uber Eats marketplace, restaurants typically pay about 20% to 30% commission per delivery order depending on the plan - in the US that's Lite 20%, Plus 25% and Premium 30% after Uber's March 2026 rate increase, with roughly a 5% surcharge on orders from Uber One members. On top of that there's a 7% pickup fee (10% if your in-store prices aren't validated) and, on the Webshop, a 2.5% + $0.29 order-processing fee. After promotions and refunds the effective cost often approaches a third of the order. RestApp charges 0% commission on your orders, so the margin stays with you, and you pay a simple flat monthly plan instead.
If diners order through Uber Eats, do I own the customer relationship and data? +
No. When someone orders in the Uber Eats app, that diner is Uber's customer, not your restaurant's. You get aggregated analytics and order trends in Uber Eats Manager, but not the individual contact details you'd need to email, text or remarket to that customer and bring them back without paying Uber again. With RestApp, every order comes through your own branded website and iOS/Android apps, so you own your customer data and have a direct relationship with each diner.
Doesn't Uber Eats offer a commission-free Webshop - isn't that the same as RestApp? +
Not quite. Uber's Webshop is a commission-free ordering page for your own site, but it's an add-on bolted onto the marketplace, still carries a 2.5% + $0.29 processing fee per order, uses Uber Direct delivery starting around $7.99 per delivery, and gives you a web ordering page rather than native branded iOS and Android apps. It also isn't a point-of-sale - Uber integrates with third-party POS systems rather than providing one. RestApp bundles your own branded website and native apps, a full cloud EPOS, e-menu/QR table ordering, loyalty, KDS and inventory in one platform on simple monthly plans.
Do I have to pay extra on Uber Eats to get seen? +
Often, yes. Beyond commission, Uber Eats sells Sponsored Listings - pay-to-rank ads on a cost-per-click basis that push your restaurant to the top of the app's feed, with independents spending around $50 a week on average. So visibility against competing restaurants becomes a recurring extra cost on top of the 20-30% commission. RestApp has no pay-to-rank fees: your own site and apps are yours, customers come straight to your brand, and you aren't bidding against other restaurants for attention.
Can I switch from Uber Eats to RestApp and keep taking orders? +
Yes. Many restaurants keep their Uber Eats listing running as one discovery channel while launching RestApp's commission-free branded ordering, then steer their loyal, repeat customers to their own 0% channel where each order costs nothing in commission instead of 20-30%. RestApp helps you set up your menu, branding, website, native apps, EPOS and loyalty, with 24/7 support throughout.
