Questions & Answers

Is Clover commission-free like RestApp? +

Partly. Clover does not charge a per-order commission on its own built-in online ordering for takeout, curbside or dine-in, which is genuinely good. But Clover makes its money on card processing: roughly 2.3%, 2.6% + $0.10 per in-person transaction and about 3.5% + $0.10 for online or keyed-in orders, charged on every single sale, plus per-device monthly software plans. RestApp charges 0% commission on direct orders and runs on simple monthly plans, so your processing and your ordering channel aren't quietly taxing every transaction.

Does Clover give me my own branded website and iOS/Android apps? +

Not really. Clover's online ordering works through a Clover-hosted ordering page you link to, rather than a native app published under your restaurant's name in the App Store and Google Play. So you can take online orders, but you don't get your own branded customer apps or full ownership of that channel. RestApp includes your own branded website plus native iOS and Android apps, so diners order in your app under your brand and the relationship and data stay with you.

Am I locked into a contract or one payment processor with Clover? +

Usually yes. Most Clover plans are sold on 36-month contracts, often with early termination fees of $500, $2,000+ to leave early, and Clover hardware is processor-locked, if you switch to a cheaper processor you generally cannot bring your Clover devices with you. Pricing also varies because Clover is resold through banks and ISOs (in the UK, Lloyds Cardnet, AIB and First Data/Fiserv), so your rates and terms depend on who sold it to you. RestApp uses simple monthly plans with no per-card processing lock-in and no 36-month device contract.

What does Clover actually cost a restaurant per month versus RestApp? +

It adds up in layers. Restaurant software plans run roughly $54.95, $59.95/month for Counter Service and about $84.95, $89.95/month for Table Service, and that's charged per device, so two terminals means paying twice. On top of that you pay card processing on every sale (about 2.3%, 2.6% + $0.10 in person, ~3.5% + $0.10 online), plus hardware (Flex ~$700, Mini ~$800, Station Duo ~$1,900) and often extra paid apps for advanced inventory, reporting or integrations. RestApp bundles cloud EPOS, commission-free online ordering, your own branded apps, e-menu/QR ordering, loyalty, KDS, inventory and 24/7 support into one simple monthly plan.
